Technique for designing petal cones?

I have been trying to find a guide on how to design a petal cone on paper, i supposed i could do it in 3d, but here at work i only have a ruler and compass :D. any ideas? Im referring to the types of cones used on airplane noses, bombs, etc fyi...

It's a tedious but not impossible work to do it by hand, I recommend at least using the trial version of pepakura (you could still take screenshots and so on) and the like to do the two-and-something hour job in just 5 minutes... [Since you have 3d I don't think I actually needed to say this

Ya, ive kinda worked out a way to do it on paper, very tedious... and ya, in 3ds max i can do it in seconds im sure, but dont have my laptop at work :P
