I'm hard enough on my models myself without having to have kids around. When I moved a couple of years ago, I scored a dented front end to my 18" Currell R-100 airship and haven't gotten around to repairing it yet. Also while moving I decided a couple of models weren't worth packing and just gave them the big crunch. Sadly, it doesn't take much to destroy a paper model.
