Johnny, in Europe Future is often sold under the brand name 'Kleer" or similar. The bottle will say "acrylic floor wax" and the maker is S. C. Johnson & Sons.

I've looked in several stores here in Salem and guess what? No Future... wait, not just that but NO floor wax of any brand whatsoever. None! I live in a strange part of the world.

I can't find "Future" in Wichita, but there is a generic Acrylic Floor Finish (note the word "wax" is not used) that looks, smells and dries crystal clear & glossy just like Future. If it looks like a duck...

That's one handy tut and will help me with my rails on the construction equipment I build.

I've been using Future whenever I needed to stiffen card - prop blades, davits, masts and spars etc. This is how I've hardened the masts on my Livadia model:
1. Roll and glue masts. Let dry thoroughly. 2. Use needlenose pliers or a bit of wire to suspend the mast in Future (I hang it right into the bottle). Let soak until no more bubbles form. 3. Take out carefully and suspend where it can drip-dry (make sure you put some paper towels etc. underneath. 4. When the mast is just about dry to the touch, carefully roll again between ruler and cutting mat until the mast is straight. Let dry. (Depending on what type of paper you used, you may need to repeat 4 a few times to prevent warping. A word of caution though - Future is water-based, and with the exception of the method just described you're better off using it sparingly. It's not good for chip board at all, and won't work for larger surfaces on regular card. If you apply too much you'll get a pretty shiny surface that won't take paint at all without being sanded first. Lastly, while it doesn't smell particularly offensive, it can give you a pretty bad headache if you don't have good ventilation in your work area. Cheers, Oliver
