Sure there is. Epoxi resin, I have already tested it myself and the result is excellent. It makes a sheet of paper look like plastic after it sets hard. You can even sand it! When applying it make sure it penetrates inside the fiber of the paper and not just applying coat on its surface. I use a small hard and flat brush for that. Like this one:
Princeton Best Synthetic Sable Flat Shader Series 4050FS - BLICK art materials You can use a cheaper one, this one is just an example. After all you will be applying resin and not painting, so itīs not necessary a good quality brush. Anyway you must clean the brush very well with turpentine after use it. The trick to apply the resin is to do it slowly. You do not start applying it to a large area with one stroke but concentrate be brush strokes to a small area until you see the paper change color, that is, became saturated with the resin. You know, just like when you drop water on a paper, it becomes moistened with it. In the case you are not familiar with epoxi resin here is a link: AeroMarine 300/21 Epoxy Resin 1.5 Quart Kit - Amazon.com Epoxi resin is two parts compound, the resin itself and a catalyst (hardener). You mix then in usually a ratio of 2:1 and it sets hard in a few hours. Well, I hope the tip might help. |

Don't mix very much epoxy at any one time. This stuff can "go-off" while sitting in the pot. And it ain't pretty. You get a very hot, smoking, stinky mess that must be thrown away. Other than that you pretty much get something like plastic card when you're done.

Been using Elmer's Rotted Wood Repair. No odor and water clean-up. It comes in a 16 oz. bottle. On a single sheet of 110# card one coat made the paper resemble a thin sheet of plastic. Have not tried it on thicker material yet.
