Lancer525 sent me his files and the machine cuts went very well.
Photo 1 (taken directly from the screen with an i-phone) shows the red cut line made by the computer behind the jpg in Silhouette. You can see a little mis-match particularly in the right upper corner but it is only about .010" at that one spot. Photo 2 shows were I shifted the jpg away from the computer-generated cut lines to show the cut lines more clearly. Photo 3 shows the machine cut pieces. Chris |

I'm loving this thread and the information / comparisons between the two machines I would like to buy, I would love to buy the Black Cat or the Silver Bullet but the Silhouette is more in my price range so I've been enjoying this discussion on the features and abilities of both machines.
I mainly build in around 1:20 scale and mostly do vehicles so i'd love to have a machine cut all my wheels and treads, not to mention being able to do caterpillar tracks for a couple of upcoming models on my list. To the guys with the Silhouette, what is the thickest cardstock you have cut with it? would it cut through 1 or 2mm stock with multiple passes or would that be pushing it? I mainly work with 240gsm cardstock which i think shouldn't be a problem for either machine but being able to cut tyre treads from thicker stock would be a bonus. |

Hi guys,
I have a Silhouette SD that will cut 122 coverstock (.015" thick). According to the Silhouette site their Camo and Portrait machines will both cut a maximum of .8mm or .031". Chris |
