Cutting chipboard?
About to start a new build and will be using chipboard for the keel and frames. In the past, I've used just a utility knife. Suggestions? Scroll saw, perhaps. Just looking for a quicker and more accurate way.

Exactly how thick is this chipboard?

1/8th" for the keel and deck....1/16th" for the frames. I might go thicker on the frames to give the hull plates more bearing surface to adhere to and to allow for some beveling to follow the fair of the hull line.. Using a utility knife on thick cardboard and chipboard is a bit tedious, so was wondering what a mini-jigsaw or scroll saw might do.

Wow! That is wood. Not sure how much use you would get out of it, but there are small hobby table saws that would allow you to do straight cuts, like cross or rip cut.
But for curved cuts nothing would beat a high quality scroll/fret saw. Like the ones used in marquetry or intarsia wood work. john |
