The modelling kit and the printed kit. I didn't include a photo of the glue that I use which is Aleene's Original Tacky Glue. I printed on a Ricoh laser printer.

Photo 1

  • Scissors.
  • Exacto Knife.
  • Scoring Tool (something that my wife gave me to use from her nail kit).
  • Metal ruler (small enough to maneuver in my limited space.
  • Toe nail clippers (great for cutting curves.
Photo 2 - Watercolour pencils.

Picture 3 - The printed model, coated with Krylon.

I'm looking forward to scoring the model tonight after work!

Catching up on the posts after a long weekend! Will print it out tonight and begin scoring.

Tools:

Glue- Aleene's Tacky Glue
Scorer- Frequently, I use the tip of a knitting needle.
Metal Ruler
Craft knife/ cutting board

That's what I can remember as I sit here at work... It's been far too long since I've started a project!

OK... all of the Fold lines have been scored, including the Roof lines.

When I flip the card over, I can see the faint score marks, but nothing has broken through; is this adequate, or did I push too hard? (fingers crossed, hoping all is OK)

In fear of breaking through the Card with something metal, I used the Stylus from an old Apple PDA as my scoring tool...

If you break the paper fibers, you're gonna see it on the scored side.
You'll also see it when it comes time to make the folds.

If you only see a bulge on the reverse side, at least you know you didn't go right thru the paper! lol

The Stylus sounds like an okay idea.

...
I am curious as to how you all fair with the curved, freehand scoring along the roof lines of the Body sides.
Any trouble? tips? advice? anything to add to what I already posted?

airdave,

I went along just as you pointed out; go slow, and a little bit at a time. I didn't push as hard with the stylus as with the other Fold lines, so I'll see how the Fold turns out.

As usual, curved scoring was done freehand. I won't know if I got it right until it's folded, but such small triangle tabs can easily be tweaked into shape with the tweezers.

Things seem to have gone according to plan, but I won't really know until the glue hits the roof. If it turns out badly, I'll just submit an out-of-focus picture.
