a new way of curving card stock parts

this is a idea I came up with for curving parts, get two aluminum rods, tie them together on both ends or just one, put it on a table, and grab the piece you want to curve, and put it in between the aluminum rods, then pull the card downwards, repeat until you get your desired curveture
photos should explain process more clearly

expanded on my half baked idea, now 2/3's baked

if you need a faster method of curving the parts, curve the part, then flip the rods around and also swap the rods so you can curve it again
I hope the photos explain my idea
also, pay attention to the piece of masking tape on the end of the rods

alas, don't mind the sock in the last pic

In the metal fabricating trade, we call that a "roll." You can roll a conical section by forcing one side of the roll to grab more than the other.

I'll dig my table top roll out and show you all some pictures of how its made. You can do the same with plywood and gears.

BTW, never throw printers away because they contain all the basic materials to make your own roll.

What would the result be if one of the rods were smaller in diameter?

Umm, how about using one rod, and a mouse pad, works great for me, and i still can use the printer or mouse pad or the rod for anything else.
