23.425" is known to us metric types as 595 mm and is the length of an A2 sized sheet.
8.27" is 210 mm and is the width of an A4 sheet. My suspicion is that many but not all "straight through" path inkjets can manage 595 x 210 (a lengthwise half of A2) and/or 420 x 297 (A3 sheet). Anything that's in the image outside those limits is just ignored by the printer. These larger sheet sizes are very handy for things like parts of site plans, ship plans, etc., specially when vector format allows small file sizes. A claim to unlimited length from the remote west of Cornwall has been filed under "fishy" pending justification. :D |

Wow.
That might be longer than you need for paper models. |

So photoshops allowance of 416.666inches as the maximum length, (34.6 feet) seems a little paltry. |
