Finish on completed models
Do you use some kind of clear spray-on finish once a model is completed?
If so, what finish do you use? |

I do use a matt acrylic spray but at the other end of the process - give the parts sheets a light spray. This stops any glue drops marking the printed finish and seems to stop the edge colour soaking into the card.

Yes I do.
Just varnish out doors. A couple of light coats. And practice a bit on some spare card before you start.

I use to spray clear coat on models printed with inkjet cartridges/printers. That ink faded fast if not protected.Any of the cheaplaquers in can will do,trick is to use very thin coats.
I'm currently using laser printers and I found models lasting much longer and colors hold very nicely without any lacquer.Keep in mind,I live in relatively dry place. |

I use UV protective spray on inkt-jet printed models. On finished models I spray gloss varnish for acrylic paintings (art store).

On non assembled sheets I use deluted nitro based varnish, normally used for wood impregnation. Straight from the can, one layer with soft 2inch artistic brush for that. But you can't use this stuff for inkjet printed models (your printed colors will blend) - for that just one layer of acrylic glossy spray.
On finished model: two coats of clear glossy acrylic varnish from spray can, and after that one or two coats of matt or satin varnish, depending on what look you want to achieve on your model. |
