Easy way to enlarge Modelart 1/72 scale models to 1/50 scale

Modelart 1/72 scale model files are organized so there is 2 sections per page. Enlarging the parts pages to 1/50 is a simple matter of adjusting a couple settings on the .pdf print screen.

On the print screen (as shown below), set the paper size as "legal". Click on the "Poster" box (see the top red arrow) and change the "Tile Scale" to 150% (see the bottom red arrow). Specify which page or pages you want printed and then click on the "Print" button. Your printer should print out each page half as a full page with the parts enlarged to 1/50 scale.

Correction: the "Tile Scale" should be to 144% for 1/50 scale. A "Tile Scale" of 150 is 1/48 scale.

Handy info Bill!

A little clarification...

this particular Print Properties screen is unique to whatever software being used.
In this case, you mentioned using the more recent (Adobe) Acrobat Reader (Adobe's newest version).
I'm guessing it's that.
(If someone is not using Acrobat Reader, they will not have the same controls)

Like other Print Properties screens, it publishes to whatever device you choose, in this case your printer.

The four Buttons under Page Size and Handling are just quick choice options:

"Size" would open options for you to manually edit the output dimensions, etc

"Poster" is for those who wish to print a single picture, but enlarge it (like a Poster).
So, you are presented with the necessary options, like enlargment percentage options.

*not sure why they use the term "tile scale", which would be more appropriate
if you were fitting multiple images on a page and needed to reduce them.

"Multiple" is exactly what I just mentioned, "tiling and scaling",
and you would need to input a reduction percentage instead, to fit multiple images on the page.

The fact that Modelart arranges their pages this way for their smaller scale models
is actually confusing your point. This is still a single page that you are modifying (enlarging).
At least, I was confused at first, because I thought you were arranging multiple pages
and the use of "Poster" didn't connect with me.

What is also important, is the paper size required for this "poster" print?
You mentioned Legal....which is 8.5" x 14".
Is that still big enough?
I'm guessing it eliminates the outer measuring scale border (of the modelart page)?
Because a Letter size page enlarged 144% is 12.25" x 16"...an A4 even longer.
(So you would need Tabloid size paper 14" x 17")

Yes, I am using the latest version of the free Adobe Acrobat Reader. I should have mentioned this fact. Anyone with an internet connection can download it. This program takes up 581 mb of my harddrive space according to Windows.

8.5" x 14" size paper is large enough for enlarging to 150%. Only half of a 8.5" x 11" page is being enlarged at a time and then printed on a full piece of paper.
