DIY Dual Purpose Clamp

This is probably not a new concept, but I finally figured it out after years of building.i found most clamps did not have the fine tips I often needed for small scale models. I was left to sit there and hold the parts together with my fine point tweezers by hand. Then I noticed the small clamps I used to hold foam board together for diorama building. I clamped the tweezers together and viola! Very fine point clamp with stand! Ok… I'm a slow learner.

Here is another option, self locking tweezers.

I agree, none of mine have the fine point or the “stand”. And then there is I was too lazy to pull my kit out and dig out a pair…;-)

Yep, I have two pairs of the reverse tweezers which are good for this.
I think you might have meant voila rather than viola - the latter is a bowed stringed instrument that uses the alto clef.

I have always (= as long as I can remember) used that method of clamping needle point tweezers and I am glad that you posted it. It's a valuable technique and the "stand" feature sometimes comes in handy.

Self locking tweezer are useful, too.

And now that I think of it, "voila, viola" has a nice sound to it.

Good Idea!
It can be improvement on self locking clamps, since DIY clamp can have more squeezing force.

You can vary the force by where you add the clamp. The lower, the less force there is at the tip. To be honest, never looked at it that way!

I used to push the rear end of the tweezers, holding a tiny parts, between the books, tightly packed on the shelf. I have a pair of self locking tweezers, too. But in fact I often used both methods while painting and drying the wet paint only, which is very rare operation in paper modelling.
