Artificial Terrain
I am currently building a reproduction of the battle on Hoth but my dresser just wasn't realistic enough. I tried laying down pieces of paper to create a sort of "snow" and i found out a neat trick. If you crumple up the paper and lay it out it makes a neat terrain-like look.
I guess you could also make dirt, sand or water depending on the color of paper you use but I only had white paper and i didn't want to use my mom's good construction paper. I will probably attach a picture of my diorama when it's done. |

Cool technique! Can't wait to see the diorama!
I think another technique I saw was using foam pieces and then have them carved down. From there add some PVA glue or and spread it until it dries. Looks pretty cool when it's done. |

Crumpled paper? Already seen that somewhere and it didn't look good - you can't get rid of those sharp, straight folds. Maybe some glue-soaked tissue paper could do the trick.
