How to make a paper model with Sketchup

Paper Guitar dot com ( paperguitar.com - papermodels of Gibson, Gretsch and other guitars ) has just released a tutorial on "How to make a paper model with Sketchup(Draft)" I hope someone finds this useful.

That is very cool! Thanks for sharing the link, Phil. I think even I could do that - at least make a cube. I think there may be more tutorials to help you build more 3-D objects, like buildings, etc.

There are a ton of tutorials. Just to see if I could do it .. I created a small plan for a pump house. Worked great. Now .. on to bigger and better (the plan is in HO scale. Cool thing about printing to a virtual PDF 'printer' such as CutePDF is that you can scale the output to whatever scale you are working in (in Sketchup if you build the object in full scale .. then in the 'printer' dialog box I set the scale .. in this case .. to 1:87).

Try copying the http-line and pasting it into your browser address box.... & hit enter.

Good, but one of these days we need to get something up that has curves and more involved. It can be MUCH trickier than that, and that's when you start running into issues that you have to deal with before you draw. I need to get a new laptop soon, and after I do, I'm hoping to release a few projects...




It is fairly easy to draw something, but getting it to where it's easy to unfold takes some thought. The M-18's about halfway unfolded, but I have a few more things to tweak.
