Here are a pair of Chinese J-7 I and an Albanian F-7A, both in 1:200.
The first version built by Shenyang (around a dozen, no more) and later Chengdu was just called J-7 without any suffix straight licence built version of the MiG-21F-13. The only export of that initial version would be the F-7A for Albania. Though I've also seen Tanzania mentioned. [edit 2023-08-15: added 4 Chinese J-7 sans suffixe including one with the brake chute fairing at the base of the fin] The Chinese had some issues with their copy of the R-3S missiles and decided to restore the second gun of the MiG-21F for their next version, the J-7 I. They also quickly replaced the ejection-seat, which required a, still font-hinged, but slightly more bulbous canopy (I didn't represent it), and moved the braking parachute to a fairing at the base of the rudder. Some J-7 "sans suffixe also got those 2 changes. The next step would be the J-7II, the visible difference being a new rear-hinged canopy with a separate 3-part windshield. |
