Le Chat Botte (Puss & Boots)
Many thanks to Patricia for the links to the decoupage site with this vintage diorama model. This is a medium level scan, not as good as Agence Eureka, but suitable for enlargement up to 11 x 14 in.
The original is in good condition and needs only color restoration and a bit of line detail. I will translate the instructions and story for English readers. This build is suitable for children and needs no glue for assembly. It's sort of a "snap-tite" kit of the day. here is the original French cover that I have already restored. I'll do the translation of it and the other pages as I progress. Again, I'll make this freely available to anyone who wants it.

That was quick. Here is my translation of the cover page. Please feel free to suggest corrections; no ego attached and it's easy to change the text in Photoshop.

I am already having difficulty with the translation because the original scan does not have the resolution to read the French. Any help?

Your translation is very good Charles for the cover page.
You didn't translate all the words, in the same kind of sentence (which is somtines an error. Google do that. Badly). You have adapted the words to the meaning. It's great ! May be we can discuss about the choice of the "3D" expression, which is not vintage... May be "Relief" or "volume" will be better. But I don't know their "real" sens or way of use in english. |

I don't mind changing the word to "Raised Relief." That would be a correct translation. Thank you for taking the time to consider the work I am doing! It's a real pleasure!

Idiomatic transliterations are always fraught with in-built dangers.
I know this from my own exams in French during the Scholarship ( Bourse) phase of my education. Maj. Charles mon ami, your traductions thus far are both apt, accurate, and effective in idiomatic terms. I Congratulate You, Mon Ami. Kind and Respectful Regards, Ton Ami, Uyraell. |
