Nulli Secundus Airship from Images d'Epinal

Beautiful work, Thorsten!

A very fine model build of a relatively simple model. Meticulous edge-coloring work on all those paper edges - that makes all the difference, it looks so precise and real. Thanks for sharing these fine photos.

Best,
Bengt in Stockholm

Hello Jan,
am preparing to build my own copy of the Epinal Nulli Secundus. As so often,it is not quite as simple as it seems, so your photographs will be a help. I am left with two questions:
- where do the sail-like parts F go?
-Below the three parts F is one of three sort of bar parts. I can't trace their position either - partly because the little numbers are almost illegible due to the scan/print proces.
Would be grateful for some extra pictures.

Wow! There are so many very cool vintage paper models at that link. Love the builds. These airships would be and will be perfect for use as miniatures for Steampunk games. Thanks.
Nay chance there is a link to the second airship or did I miss it in the posts here?

Il favoloso mondo di carta di Totň: Ballon dirigeable

Sometime, you should just walk through the aisles of Toto's site. I think that you would find several of the Imagerie d'Epinal models to be quite interesting. But there are many gems there. Definitely worth a couple hours of time to peruse

Here is a high-res scan of the Ville de Paris (150 dpi). I can also provide it at 300 dpi. Send me a pm if you want me to email it to you at that resolution. I'll post another Epinal dirigible shortly.

The other Epinal Moyenne Construction I have of a dirigible... Le Zeppelin. For some reason it's displayed floating on water. I haven't built it, but it should make for an interesting model. Again, if you'd prefer the 300 dpi version, pm me. Tom

Early Zeppelins were launched from Lake Constance ("Bodensee" in German), where a floating hanger could be easily rotated so the airships wouldn't be hit by a crosswind while entering or exiting.

Zeppelin LZ 4

I studied the picture of the Imagerie d'Epinal nr 940, the German Zeppelin, then checked out Google images - and bingo: lots of pictures of what turns out to be the LZ-4.
Has anyone already built this? It looks extremely compplicated on paper, and a drawback of those old models is the complete lack of instructions. Many of the tiny letters and numbers indicating positions of various parts get blurred in the scanning / printing process...
