Hi Friends,
Thanks for all the kind comments. You know I showed a pretty detailed account of the base. The dirt and rocks were made with scrap chipped up Styrofoam and coffee grounds drybrushed with several coats of paint and finished off with pastel powder shaved off some pastel sticks. Kind Regards, Cris |

Hi Paulie,
Yes that is an old trick. Here are two other Micromodels dioramas I made using the same technique: Kind Regards, Cris |

Both really wonderful work. I remember seeing the traction engine, but have not seen the railway one you did before. That is really excellent!
----------------------------- Re coffee grounds. Good idea - never thought of this. On of the things I also use for ground textures in small scale is bicarbonate of soda - good for snow features and other hings as it is very fine. |

Hi Kevin,
Thanks for your kind words! Here Micromodels - a set on Flickr are a few more of the Micromodels I've built. Thats interesting about the soda. One of the projects I want to get around to is the MERIA S. MERIAN by Passat Passat-Verlag - Eisrandforschungsschiff MARIA S. MERIAN an Arctic Research Vessel. I had in mind to show her on the floes with the deep blue Arctic Sea...hopefully a dramatic composition. I will keep the soda suggestion for sure! Thanks! Kind Regards, Cris |

Cris - Terrific models and absolutely superb dioramas. Truly model railroading for people with no space at all, but a lot of paper modeling talent. Don
