Just start to build it...
But I have many problems with pieces (the rear parts, the deck, the sail...). Nothing seems to match. May be I choose a wrong way... |

I downloaded the original from here -
浮世絵検索システム - 検索結果 I did not save the page, refinding this particular model, means sorting through over 1000 other prints. As near as I can tell they are all mid to late 19th c. and mostly Kabuki themes. Information about the print date author and publisher is included on the web site in Japanese. There is at least one other paper model on the site, which I previously posted (??????????????? ; This model is buildable, there may be a missing sheet but I was able to end up with something pretty close to the picture of the completed model that is posted on the site.). There may be more models out there, the site navigation is complex and I kept finding links or sub-libraries with more prints and keep on getting lost and having to start over. I was trying to get around without Google translate, which was a mistake. I downloaded some non paper model Hiroshige prints as screen savers and for printing my own stationary. I send corresponding to my tax=lady on attack of the 47 Ronin prints, and she gets a good laugh when I tell her its Japanese style tax collection. I tried building the model in my head, think the two paired yellow rectangles are axels. or maybe a bench or thwart. The paired eye things with red border go on top of the mast. I have no idea what the curved point piece with the wave on it is for. I like how PAT figured out what to do with the stern piece. I was trying to keep it in one piece and of course could not see a way of fitting it to the hull. Making it two pieces as Pat did is the solution. I am interested to see what you are giong to do with the sail. If you complete it I suspect you will be the first gaijin ever to have built it. So you have my congratulations in advance. Patcraft: by the way is that a glass of glue, or is it some kind of tasty French yogurt drink? Sorry for the long run on post. |

The first five prints on this page are a tatebanko of a scene from Chusingura:
http://www.dh-jac.net/db/arcnishikie...&-max=30&-Find or in another grouping with more Chusingura prints: •‚世ŠGŒŸ索ƒVƒXƒeƒ€ - ŒŸ索Œ‹‰ハ or Š–{情••\Žヲ •‚世ŠGŒŸ索ƒVƒXƒeƒ€ - ŒŸ索Œ‹‰ハ Š–{情••\Žヲ Š–{情••\Žヲ Š–{情••\Žヲ Š–{情••\Žヲ Soon to be a major motion picture with Keanu Reeves. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/47_Ronin_(2012_film) I hope they have not ruined it. There are many Japanese versions of Chusingura, the 1962 version is very good and is rentable and at many public libraries. I have never seen the 1978 version, the Fall of Ako Castle, but it has Sonny Chiba in it so it is probably a blood fest. Last edited by John Wagenseil; 01-31-2013 at 06:27 PM. |
