1/144 Savoia S-81

Thanks to forum member pucara73, I was able to enjoy building this vintage Savoia S-81 bomber published by the German company RAPI, most likely in the 1930s. I added a Savoy crest to the vertical stab, and fasces insignia to the fuselage sides to cement the time period to the WWII Mussolini era. I don't know what scale the original publication was shooting for, but I think 1/144 suits this vintage model very well.

Surprisingly, the fit of the hand drawn parts was uniformly excellent, and the build was trouble free and very enjoyable. Part of one horizontal stab was cut off in pucara73's image, so I mirrored the one that was complete. The camouflage match up could be better overall, but other than that criticism, it's a great little kit.

The photos were taken at late dusk, so they're not the best. Sorry about that.

Hey Mr. Texman I do sometimes 1/144 (that was my only scale when I didn't know I was a papermodeler, yet I was).

Thank you, one and all for your kind comments. Don't worry Ray, I'm certainly no threat to your borders, lol. It's really not as tiny as it sounds - not too much smaller than some of the 1/72 WWII fighters I've built. Thank you again for your scan, pucara73. Building this vintage Savoia kit was a rewarding use of time during quarantine.

Dear Pucara and Don,
Thank you for the model and the

Best regards.
