New member from South Dakota

I just joined today and am a beginner in card modeling. I had downloaded several Dakar truck card models over the past couple of years. I had done plastic modeling in the past and had become interested in German and Russian heavy hauling trucks. So Dakar trucks seemed a natural spinoff. It wasn't until last night that I got some card stock and tried to print one of them. I came out ok. I do have a couple of questions for you experts out there. I downloaded several Dakar truck models from two Czech sites. I was also able to match some of them up with pictures of the real thing to give me some idea of what goes where. When there are no directions included with the models and and can't figure out what some of the parts are and you don't speak or write the language, what is the best way around this problem?

which site, and which models?

I am the resident Dakar nut here, so you are asking the right site.

I tend to build following the numbers, or group of numbers

Czech card models

I downloaded the 2005 GINAF X2223 and the 2004 LIAZ Macik 1:100 from LBS. I've been trying to translate the words on the print out but the internet doesn't seem to be very Czech friendly. Also I can't really tell what shape some of the long pieces should be made into and which way to fold some of the more unrecognizable shape. There wasn't any pictures of the assembled GINAF and the one for the LIAZ didn't show the top or bottom.

i use this site for alot of the normal translations
Language Translation -- English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Russian, Greek, Norwegian, Chinese, Japanese & Korean
and i use this one for specific words slovnik.cz - Multilingual Dictionary

the long strips at the bottom of the model are the wheels/tires
you roll them up like a quilling round
what I do, is cut out the wheel sides, roll the strips, to the size of the wheels, glue one side down, and then glue the other wheel side.

and the stick diagram is actually the axle layout, use skewers for that

let me know if that helps

Rick

Welcome -- We visited beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota for the first time last summer (oldest daughter and her husband live in Spearfish). Visited Rapid City a couple of times. Look forward to seeing your models. Don
