Hello from Clarksville, Tennessee
Hello all!
I am a longtime designer and modeler, and I believe I know some of you from a 90's listserve, Thomas Pleiner's German forum, from the Paper Modelers' Conventions and the CardFormation Newsletter. I visited fellow forum member, Rob Tauxe, over the weekend, and he was energetic in his praise of this forum. As a result of his hearty recommendation I dug up my old password to the site. I teach art at Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee, where I specialize in drawing, computer graphics, paper engineering and animation. As an artist I've exhibited drawings, paper sculptures and cut outs in galleries and museums across the USA and Switzerland. Over the years I've designed upwards of 100 models, including small scale pre-WW I fliers, construction equipment, life sized violins, a 'cello, folding chairs, 1950's robots, a working cuckoo clock, an ice cream bar, a telegraph, a rotary phone, a pay phone, and dozens of other odds and ends. Working with Ivy Press in the UK I've also published three books of models in the last six years; Paper Chess, Paper New York and Paper London. (The last one was released last spring, just in time for the Olympics.) All are available at amazon.com The next project we're to begin is Paper Couture; shoes, hats and handbags from great designers. It's a switch from our past books but after seeing an exhibition of fashion from the 40s and 50s I thought that the subject was perfect for paper. And that's a bit about me. I'm glad to be back online! |

Welcome back to the forum.
I have those three books you listed. Nice stuff. I have not constructed anything from them yet. Paper London was shipped from the UK.

Thank you for the warm welcome! It's also heartening to see that folks are buying the books! As for designing the Animusic machine, I'm afraid you'll have to wait for a hardcore fan to step up. That will require passion AND skill!
