Hello from Ireland
Hi I stumbled across this forum in my search for useful judging criteria for paper models. I'm the competition secretary of IPMS Ireland and as an experiment we're opening up a paper and card model class in this year's national Competition. So any useful advice welcome.
Apart from that I'm blown away by the models displayed here and itching to try my own hand at something simple. |

Outstanding! We are glad you joined us. If you are looking for 'simple' to get started, I would recommend the Canon one-page animals. They help to develop skills for more difficult models and they still look pretty cute even if you mess up on the first couple.
You can find them at Animals - Paper Craft - Canon CREATIVE PARK

Welcome! Thanks for joining the forum. Take your time, look around, ask questions and most of all, enjoy yourself here. Do you expect many paper/card models to be entered this year? When is your competition scheduled?

Good Man! Welcome to a fellow turf trotter!
I'm down here in Wicklow, Greystones to be precise! Although a big fan of of styrene, i too was amazed the build quality of some of the paper/card models. Some, far superior to my attempts in plastic! Reason i got into card modeling was due, at the time, to the lack of plastic kits for certain IAC types. Started to fumble together some simple models, and had a go at putting a few of my own designs on paper and building them. Not good enough for release, but filled the IAC gaps on my shelf at the time, and kept me happy. Have to say, it's been very addictive. http://www.fiddlersgreen.net/ was the first site i found, built a few of their models, badly, and then stummbled my way across to here. Still very fond of the 'Fiddlers' models though. Looking forward to the show in Dublin in september. I may see you there! Cheers... Ray |

Thanks for the welcome Everybody. Somewhere in my stash is a book of card robots which I take out every now and then and look at
@Elliot our nationals are in September and we added the paper and card class because some of the best models in the show last year were exquisite paper ships by some Polish modellers now resident in Ireland but because of IPMS rules they couldn't be in competition. So we are testing the waters this year to see what shows up. |

Welcome aboard! Had some discussions you might find interesting here: FSPM Lounge - PaperModelers.com . Fine scale paper modeling thoughts and IPMS integration, etc.
