Does anything on this site work ?

I tried downloading for files and all I got was a 37k zip file that won't unzip. Then I got a message saying that I had downloaded the maximum number of files per day so I went to The Forum to do a search on download problems. What a surprise the search function on the forums doesn't work. A little box opens up so you can enter the search criteria but when I try to click on it to enter the search items it closes. Is this a real site or is somebody just having a good time watching people be frustrated

It is a very real site, very active and loaded with information.

If the search term is less than 3 letters, you will not get any results.

it is showing that you have downloaded 4.24 MB worth of files
If you use the button to download, there are issues with the file not loading correctly, using the link below it, will work fine, and you will get the entire file
If you are downloading from an iPad or Android device, the file might not download correctly

plus we have anti spam measures in place which limit some of the functionality of the forum until you reach 10 posts, and then those restrictions are lifted.

any more questions, just ask

Rick

If you are like me, and tablet based, I use Chrome as my browser when I want to download from this (wonderful) forum. I have never had any download problems. I find that if there are multiple files for one download that it is best to download one at a time instead of using the 'download all files' button. Happy forum member.

Well, not exactly, at least for me. If I enter a common U.S. aircraft designator, e.g., P-51D, F4F-3, F-104 etc., I get no search results. I have no other issues with the site, but this has been an issue since I joined in 2009(?). Using Chrome on a desktop machine for most searches.

Just thought I'd take the opportunity to mention this in case others have the same problem, Rick.

Playing in Firefox just now.
The 4 character submarine name was not found.
The 5 character airplane name was not found.
The 4 character locomotive name was found.
I dunno.

I do wish the search function would work for three characters. Like the '747' above, there are many designations that are only three characters.

A 3-character search can be done here (as well as in any other website) with a very simple trick.
