Smile Permission to come board sir!

Hello everyone. Salutations from Nottingham, England.

I am Raymond, rather an oldie as you will see from my birthdate. I served in the Royal Navy during the early 1970s, but was building model ships before and after those times. Having said that, I am rather a novice at building 'fine' models from any kind of material.

I am here because of Vladimir Putin. My current interest is in the RN battlecruiser squadron that fought at Jutland (with a lot of help from Warspite and her sisters). The only maker producing resin kits of all of these is based in Russia. I don't feel able to buy anything more from them.

So, I am now looking at the available card models, especially HMS Lion. Let's see how I get on.

Permission granted . . . welcome aboard.
Working with paper and card is a very different experience compared to working with resin.
I hope it works out well for you.
Regards,
Mike

Thanks Mike. I am hoping that the large 1:200 scale will be easier on my eyes

Ah, Croydon. I have a number of associations.
  • I got stuck in traffic in Croydon in 1980, and was late for my own wedding
  • My daughter lived up the road in Brixton until last year
  • I have a lovely 1900s wall clock from a post office in Croydon

Welcome to the site.
JSC has a HMS Lion and some laser cut parts.
JSC HMS Lion

I have never built a kit from JSC so can not comment on how good they are.

Many thanks!

There is a thread on here of someone's building that one. But I have gone for the GPM 1:200 scale version. Marcle Models provide laser cut parts and metal guns. If I get anywhere, I will keep you posted.
