Prudenzio - Going Ape

The Zio contest is not dead. I am going for at least one more entry, the Italian Corvette Ape, in WWII configuration. The Ape was one of over sixty planned Ape class vessels. A goodly percentage of them were taken over by the Germans following Italy's surrender. Very, very few of the class survived WWII...from what I've been able to discover, only a few survived long enough to receive post-war conversions and soldier on. I decided to build the model essentially as Zio designed it to be built...tabs and all. I did deviate a bit by printing a second set of frames to essentially double the gluing surface. After doing that, a dryfit showed I would be in major fit-issue hell if I tried backing the deck with cardboard. Hopefully, this is a small enough model with enough bulkheads to not have major starved-puppy appearance. With luck, the two weeks left before contest close is enough to finish the build, given it has no directions other than the photos on Zio's webpage.

Thumbs up

Great start, and the way you have pinned to a board will definitely pay dividends for a true flat and straight hull. Nice.

Great to see another ZP build underway! Looks like you've made a great start and I'll be following this one closely. I hope to get one more ZP build in myself before the deadline!

Good news!

I look forward to seeing your work on this one Darwin.

And I hope to sneak in under the wire with my two builds before the contest ends.
