Afraid Of Snakes??

A little thing i knocked together last night...

Its a model based on the Rubik's Snake(now called Rubik's Twist)..

This one is the 24 part basic version, after a bit of surfing i found ones that are 240 parts!!!! ,They seem to be available in multiples of 24 parts i:e 24/48/96/120..... etc etc etc etc ...up to 240...

So here are all you need to make a 24 part version ,i'm just buiding it too..

Once ive built this one i will make the extra part pages so you can build any size one you want ...

Enjoy!!!!

Be Back soon....

extras!!!

As i mentioned in my first post here are the extra part pages so you can build as big as you like...

If you take these two files it will increase it by 24 units...

So if ya wanna go to the extreme and do the 240 unit one , you will need:-

original 3 files
+9 of each of the extra files...

Enjoy...

if anyone wants certain colours or patterns just shout..will be happy to change them...

*Edit*
Post pics if ya build these....will have mine done later today i hope..

question

Today at 04:46 PM Laugh, I'm having trouble understanding the basic construction procedure. For example, I do not see anything that labels part 1, 2, 3, etc. just the 'a1,a2, etc' parts. Also, are the parts built on some kind of hinge principle? Perhaps an image showing the joins in closeup would be helpful... thanks! Robert

Today at 04:54 PM Laugh, sorry, after I posted my comment it occurred to me to check if there was a build thread. Even though there is no image showing a view of the joining 'buttons', I think I understand now - the buttons are trapped so the segments are joined but can rotate along the joint plane. So, before "closing up" each segment 'triangle box', you must assemble the rotator buttons on the interiors - right?

Sorry to be so dense on first look! Regards, Robert
Okies lets see if i can clear it up a little just in case folks are still stuck...

On the instruction sheet i drew a pic of the completed snake laid flat, alternate Blue/Green triangle shapes with numbers 1-24 next to the triangles...
But on the actual part pages they are numbered a "P1"-"P24" sorry...

so lets try to list steps to join two trianlges together.. hopefully this will help ...

1)fold up a triangle glue flaps 1 and 2 only creating the triangle box with one side/edge/face left OPEN .

2)glue parts a1-a3 back to back to make a triple thickness single part, this will become part of the rotational part in between each triangle,
glue this in place on the triangle you have made in previous step.

3)Put part created in privious step to one side ...

4)repeat steps 1-3 so you should now have two triangle boxes with an "a" triple thickness part glued on each

5)again put these parts to one side..

6)glue together part b and b1,b1 is the same as b with a hole in it .this creates what we could call a "cap" for the "a" part allow to dry before moving on..

7)taking both the tringle parts and align them together so that the "a" part on the first tringle box pushes through the hole in the second tringle part, glue on the cap(b part),thus creating the rotational part between the two triangles ...this making sense so far???

8)Finally glue the last side/edge/face or whatever you want to call it ,thus closing up the triangle box ..

hopefully you should have two triangle boxes that rotate agaist each other ...

repeat many many times until snake is completed ...

i hope that all makes sense ..it made sense to me sorry ...

have fun
