Johan's Crested Tit

I finally finished this little bird and got a proper stand made for it. It turned out okay, but it was a tough build. I printed it on 110lb cardstock which may have been the issue. I've re-printed it on 32lb stock and will try again when I feel like it.

Cheers!

I am amazed you were able to get it to look that good on such stiff paper. His pre-printed birds are on much thinner paper.

Personally I prefered to build in card rather than paper as it makes them sturdier ... I have curious grandchildren with eyes in the end of their fingers. First time I've seen this one built. Even zoomed right in in on it I cannot fault it. Excellent build and pose there Steve. It's on my waiting pile, so one day soon I hope to attempt this one, but I think I'll be getting my hand back in with the much bigger kookaburra first.

Very good.

Also amazed that you managed to do it with that thick paper!

Kingfisher... "Canon papercraft"

Did a quick build of this beauty from Canon. Not many photos of the build, other than the base.

Here's the head..

For the base I used a lid filled with cement mix.. Stuck a piece of Styrofoam on it.. distressed it with lacquer thinner.. painted black and then dry brushed with some color.. glued some odd bits of ground cover on top of that. Stuck the bird on top of that, and then sprayed with several light coats of Future to blend all the pastel touch-ups together.

Very nice Peter. If that's a cm sq scale cube, it looks quite large for a kingfisher ... p'raps Japanese ones are bigger than the tiny UK variety, eh?

Lovin' that bit o' rock. A vast improvement on Canon's effort, but personally I'd have put him on a twig. Have you tried Johan's Kingfisher. Similar pose but much more life-like colouring and not so techni-colour.

Thanks for the comments guys. I still haven't gotten around to trying it on the thinner paper yet, but in the meantime I've also printed out Johan's Firecrest, and got playing with this origami crane. I hand drew the pattern on the wings, then scanned it in to the computer and made a downloadable pattern for it. It was good fun.

I posted more details and pictures on my website (see signature below).

@eatcrow2 - Fantastic work on the display stand for that kingfisher. You're very inventive.

Love the cranes!! Also thanks to the comments on the Kingfisher. I have Johan's dinosaur model, and might give that a go next.
