Tiger Head

Here is a tiger head from Cheek Patch
A click on the small picture of two tiger heads on the left takes you to the page with download and instructions. Download is the blue cartouche with the Japanese letters.

Some pictures.
Convex head:

Concave head:

Reverse side of concave head:

You can see some of the notes put on the back of the parts to keep them identified. The parts were assembled with the mountain folds folded as valley folds. It gives a 3D effect as if the tiger is following you with its eyes.
Here is a video I made showing that:

My girlfriend has been wanting one since she saw the video with it built concave at the site. I guess, now that I see that it is buildable and effective I guess I'll have to do it.

I wish he would put the 'more aggressive' original version back up

I also made this head a year or so back. It's on a shelf somewhere in the shed.

I really like your concave reversal into an "Eyes that follow you" illusion, and I'm just gonna have to copy it. Much better than the usual cartoon ones. The Rug Rats will be fascinated by it. Especially if I mount it high up out of reach.

Dunno about anyone else's, but I'm convinced my Rug Rats have got eyes in the ends of their fingers ... Can't look at anything without touching it!

This page is the one with the 3d trick-art video. It starts with the lady, then goes to the tiger, ???????????????????:??????

Wow, mounting a concave Tiger head next to a convex one really adds to the illusion. I can just see this occupying the top corner of the wall at the bend in my stairs. Super cool!

Yes, that is where I got the idea to do that effect with the tiger head. I had the woman leaving the picture frame file stored for a while and looked at that video a few days ago while checking out my bookmarks for any bad links. I looked in my stored model files and saw I had the tiger head also so decided to build both styles. The eyes following you effect works better in the video, but the actual effect can get to be a bit disturbing. Might tackle the woman leaving the picture frame one of these days.

Am I looking at this right that for the concave version it's best to work from the outside inwards?

I built it in the same numerical order as the convex one but made all of the folds in reverse to make it concave. Mountain folds became valley folds and vicey versey.
Start with parts L1 and R1 then work your way to part 8.
