Johan Scherft Long Tailed Tit
I have put together a few of Scherft's models for my Mother over the last few years.
This year I gave her the Long Tailed Tit. Not my favorite. I found it to be a little "boxy" in places. Especially the back of the bird's head. I did my best to smooth out and curve some of the seams, but its not perfect. I also didn't like the tail, which on my model is installed upside down. If installed correctly, there are blank unprinted sides to the tail (visible on the top) as well as some visible dotted lines at the outer edges. I preferred to hide the unprinted card underneath. I made my own branch from printed wood paper rolled into a long tapered tube, then sliced and bent (and glued). The base is my own construction inspired by one of Scherft's other models. Not sure why I photographed in the dark...lol

Its a nice model...I enjoyed building it, because it was fairly simple.
Took me about 2-3 hours to complete. This is the top side of the Tail (which I have put underneath) and a close up of the head...note the two bulges on the back... at first, they were pointy...I did my best to round and smooth them out

If the tail is upside down, after looking at some pictures of the real bird, I think
it looks perfectly appropriate. Nice work.

Turned out beautifully. The obstacles are not evident in the finished bird model.
