Had to do a modification.
The platform was bugging me. It was installed straight, but it's torsional weight was causing it to droop, way too much flex.
What I did was extend the hand rails and tied them to the lift. An easy mod and it did not detract from the model. The platform is now more stable and stronger. This could have been a major issue if one were to add things to the platform.
Still need to mount this to a base which will stabilize the whole gantry.

I think it looks a lot better now.

Yesterday started on the construction of the Ingram.
I only got the feet done, but it was a start.

Thank you for watching and have a good day.

Jim

Good evening.
I thought I would put up an image of the Ingram for those that may be unfamiliar with the anime series Patlabor.

Just to help visualize what is being constructed.
Today did not get a lot done. It was just way too humid to work with the card. It's not suppose to be as humid tomorrow, so hopefully I can get some more done.

Anyway all that I accomplished was to install the ankles and the beginnings of the lower legs.

Have a good evening.

Jim

Finally decided to do a Google search on Patlabor since I wasn't familiar with it at all. It showed a couple of movies released--were they direct to video or did they actually come into theaters? There is so much stuff on this site I'd never heard of before it just blows me away.

Hi Whulsey.

Patlabor was a 47 eps. anime, 3 movies, I think 2 OVA's and 3 manga series. In N.america it was only available on video. In fact the first collection of the TV series has recently been rereleased on dvd and BD.
I hope that gives some info for you.

Good Evening All.

Still working on the lower legs.
The armor panels are a little fiddly, and take time to construct.
For future reference, parts 7 & 8 attach to the lower outside of parts 14 & 15, as they are not referenced in the instructions.

The two ankle guards were then assembled and installed. The one side is a little tight to the foot on each leg. So you need a skinny tool to apply the one side of the guard.
I've cut out the beginnings of the knees, that tomorrow's job.

This is where I'm at tonight.
Thank you for following.

Patlabor AV-98 Ingram

Good evening all.

Still working on the lower legs.
Finished the knees but just have them sitting in position. They will not be fastened down till the alignment with the upper legs and torso can be confirmed.
Meanwhile the knee armor has been assembled and installed.

The assembly for the back of the lower legs has been assembled and installed. Had to deal with a bit of warp-age. A little persuasion fixed that.

Tonight started on the upper legs. We'll see how these go.

That's how this stands at this moment.
Thank you for watching.

Hello. Time for an update.
Well, I've been working on the upper legs and hips.
Slow parts to assemble, especially the hips. Had to glue one tab at a time in order to maintain their complex shape. At the end of the hips there is an overhang, that I was not not sure how to deal with. It looked just too long. Left it to deal with after the rest of the hips were assembled. Leaving it to the end was the right decision. Because of the hip's complex shape, it was not obvious how it was placed. By doing it last this section did make sense and without any trimming.

Here are all the pieces during assembly.

These are all the upper leg pieces after their assembly. The two grey pieces are the hips.

Here are the assembled upper legs.

I am not going to attach these to the lower legs, till the lower torso is assembled. That way it will be easier to deal with any misalignment with the leg sections, rather than introducing problems at this stage.

Thank you for viewing. Comments and questions are always welcome.

Hello, It's been a while since the last update. So I thought It's time to bring everyone up to speed with this build.
In following the instructions, the next part to build is the arm shield. Not a difficult part to build just time consuming.

When joining the two halves together I found it was easier to attach the ends first. Then when dry, do the sides. Easier to maintain the shield angles.
