AirDave's Lunar Rover
I thought I would help folks out be doing a quick build thread on this guy (and then Dave did that great diagram...). Oh, well, I've gotten this far and took some photos, so I guess I will go forward with it.
Didn't know how much I could enlarge and still have it fit on standard letter size, so I upped it by 10%, which after shifting things around could have been a little larger. I didn't know how big a hurry they were in for seeing a build thread, so I rushed the chassis. I left it under weight for 45 minutes when it should have sat overnight. The one corner isn't exactly flat.

VK, pretty cool, I'm looking forward to your build thread. What scale did you wind up with?

Thank you VK, I will send a link of this build to my JPL buddy to help him out and of course myself. I too am looking forward to this build. wc

NCAA basketball has been distracting me ... Did make a little progress.
Scale? Who knows. I just upped it by 10%. Looks like it will be slightly over 3 1/2 inches long when done. The chassis looks a little daunting at first glance, but it isn't really difficult. The only difficulty to this is the small parts, but not bad. I only wish I hadn't rushed the chassis. It isn't too bad, but I know it isn't right ...

Sundays can be so distracting. Should have been able to finish this in one day. I believe one more night ought to finish it up.
It's been a fun little build. Usually when I work on a 'wheeled' project, I do the wheels first since I find wheels to be rather tedious. I like the way Dave does wheels these days. A lot less snipping. Shouldn't be any issues at this point.

Love the "air-breather" motor on the back, although, even with a blower, it will have a little trouble compressing enough air on the lunar surface to combust the fuel . . .

VK I like the way you worked out the support for the dish ant. Was it hard to make the support for it because I know at one point you were worried about it. Model is looking good and I am enjoying watching the build and I'm saving you all photos for when I dive into model. My JPL friend saw the model and loves it. He noticed it was a bit small and thought it would get lost on his busy desk. I suggested he make a clean area and get ready for more of Super Dave's custom works of art{I love that one}models once he had a chance to visit Dave's web site. I know he will see many other models there also he will want. Outstand work on a outstanding model. Thank you. wc

I use broom straw for lots of things like gun barrels, etc. They are easy to handle, and once you give them a little paint, they aren't as brittle. I ended up using a smaller piece for in the dish and a larger one for the mount. I cut out a couple of the fenders, and held them up to get a measurement on overall length when done and it will be just a hair over 3 1/2 inches. Not quite as much over as I originally thought
