Murph's Models Martin B-26 "Big Hairy Bird" Beta Build

So this is my experimental beta build of the B-26 Marauder on the Astrobrights metallic cardstock. I chose the chrome silver color.

Part 1.

Printing:

-It's not as shiny as Red River silver, but spraying with a clear glossy finish might help.
-I printed on a standard Canon Pixma inkjet. There was no running or smearing right out of the printer.
-Inkjets can't print white, so the colors are faded and whites are not there. A problem with all non-white cardstocks.

Easily solved by printing the colored parts on regular copy paper

Then cutting the colored markings out and gluing to the silver paper

Part two will be building.

Nice, that looks so vivid! Paper "decals," as it were.
A similar technique but backward works for printing out a tracing paper canopy with opaque framing.

It's a great start, Aaron! Can't wait to see it all finished with that paper.

Part Deux: The Build
Cutting out the parts was...weird. It felt like I was cutting cardboard instead of 65lb cardstock. It kinda feels like they got the metallic finish by mixing actual metal bits into the paper. I'm not sure if it'll dull my blade faster...or sharpen it.

It takes glue well, and folds and rolls okay.

You have to be careful, because the horizontal stabs have a slight gull wing at the base

Glamour shot.

I gotta say, in person the paper looks way better than my usual natural metal graphics. When the model is released, there will be 2 versions: just the markings with no metal texture for printing on silver paper, and a version with the usual natural metal graphics.

Side note: I'm developing arthritis in my hands, so rolling small parts is a work in patience. Since this was a beta build, I left off parts that weren't necessary, i.e, props and landing gear.

Side Note 2: Final scale is 1/50.
