Why the Nicknames, Avatars?

Dear List Folks:
After so many years on this forum I want to know. where you folks male and female came up with your user name, Nickname, and your Avatars. Some I can Figure out but some????
I am boring plain, I just used my first and last name and avatar a picture of my best model made to date.
