Rick Steffer's Tribute Jeep Project
Glad that Don posted his build of the tribute Jeep.
Reminded me to print and build one to send to Peter Ansoff for the display. Not sure of the scale, decided to make the tires 3inches [76.2mm] tall. Changed the PDF to a TIFF, brought into AutoCAD and then Scaled the tires to the 3" tall as specified. Next was printing. This is going to be a big model, what to print on? Chose: Moab Slickrock Silver Metallic 300gsm. 24"x65" [60.96cmx165.1cm = 330.2cm] long Plot x 2, yes over 130" of premium photo paper, to get all the parts ready for cutting. While building, ended up going down memory lane. Remembering how I met Rick, some of the conversations, the great jokes he used to post. The conversation when I got into trouble. Yes, the good far out ways the bad. Knew him for several years here at PM, always respected and admired him for how safe, and accessible the site was. Almost any hour of the day you could find him logged on and his replies for PMessages was fast. I will miss Rick. Already have. Working on my stand. Jeep is complete but need a display stand. Cutting parts out: Parts cut/Ruler: Bottom Side: Body Done: Shiny: Bottom Side: Front: DONE: DONE2 DONE3 Super glue was the only glue to stick to this paper. Years and years since I built with superglue. Lots of fingerprints to be found on this build. Mike |

Outstanding work, Mike!
An exceptionally clean and precise build. I enjoyed the step-by-step images. That paper made for an exceptionally good-looking model, and I don't see any fingerprints in those photographs. Don |

Glue Trail Clearly Seen
Here is a closer photo showing a "Super Glue Trail" on the rear window. Other side of vehicle has small finger print blobs. Top left of rear tire has small finger print blob/spot. All tires have some. Should ship tomorrow during lunch.

Sorry, did not ship my build.
It was too large to fit in a large flat rate box. Cost with stand was $104 USD to ship. The Jeep by itself was $82. Weight/Dimension rates at the post office. They are normally $25 cheaper than FedEx Ground/UPS Ground. Printed a smaller version to build and ship, never got the time to build. Major snow storm, got 18" in a twelve hour span, caused several issues that was called on to help with. Daughter stuck in ditch, husband at work. The rest of the week, not as important, but, when a neighbor needs help due to an injury, well I'm going to help. Didn't think until to late to ship, should have cut the model in half, install some tabs to apply tape too, allowing it to be put back together. Would have fit in a flat rate box. Mike
