I would guess you most likely found the two-disc Collectors Edition
which includes some extra featurettes...making a total of 127 minutes of viewing?

I am not aware that a "Director's Cut" of the movie was ever released.
In fact, the extra footage required is long gone.
Heres a a couple of quotes regarding the DVD, Paul Anderson and the movie:

"Paul W.S. Anderson's initial cut of the film ran to 130 minutes and was quite graphically violent, so much so that both test audiences and the studio baulked at the finished product.
Paramount ordered him to cut the film by 30 minutes and tone down some of the violence, a decision he now regrets."

"Director Paul W.S. Anderson and producer Jeremy Bolt planned to put together a director's cut for some time, but most of the footage was lost or destroyed after post-production.
A few of those scenes, which appear on the Special Collector's Edition DVD, survived only in videotape form, sometimes without dialog or sound effects.
The DVD also includes storyboards of a space walk sequence that was abandoned for budget reasons, and the alternate ending, with commentary by Paul W.S. Anderson."

Don't know what version of the movie I have, as it's not labeled "Special Edition" or "Directors cut" but the movie itself is actually 127 minutes, not including any special features or featurettes. and its definitely not a bootleg copy

as far as horror films go, this is definitely my favorite. pardon the pun, but I would kill to get the paper model

I'm only quoting published information regarding this film.

According to distribution info, the Collectors edition film (2006) runs 95 minutes.
The 2001 Asian and European DVDs run 92 minutes.
The 1998 North American DVD runs 97 minutes.

I have a VHS copy from the late 90s that is labeled at 97 minutes.
and I have an old DVD copy that runs 92 minutes including credits.

I just bought the two disc Collectors Edition which includes a "Making of" film that runs longer than the Movie (at 102 minutes!).

Since I am a fan of SciFi, and this a fan of this movie,
I need to know more!
I am very interested to know more about what you have Rick?
Is it a Tape? DVD? Laserdisc?
or a downloaded version?
Got a cover shot?

And I apologize for sidetracking this thread! lol
