I am equally impressed. I fear that this article does not do his talents justice...

Tyler “T-half” (exhibit even further continued even more)

The detail focused on canopy over the cockpit only enhances the previously described detail in the cockpit of the controls. But Tyler like to have excellent form, as well as function.

The next series of images display his efforts to make the pilot seat adjustable and accurate to the “real” craft. Take note how the color of the seat is not only accurate, but the shape and rigging behind it appropriate.

Author's invite...

If Tyler is out there, and has anything to add to the canopy build process, or pilot seat creation, you're welcome to better this coverage....

Tyler “T-half” (exhibit even further continued more even and more)

The detail that Tyler employs includes even the most modest of places on a craft. The firewall for the plane engine has the components expected, scratch-made to replicate the actual craft (see pic 1). Note the tank behind the engine, mounted upon the firewall.

And of course, the engine itself is carefully crafted to resemble an actual working one (see pic 2). Tyler takes pains toward every bolt, the exhaust manifolds, and even the wiring (see pic 3).

Tyler “T-half” (exhibit even further continued even more yet)

You may recall that I mentioned earlier in this Thread, Tyler employs electronics to add function and accuracy. In one element, he motorized the prop at the front of the craft to permit it spinning. This first image shows the prop on the table, in front of the craft, not yet attached to the brown spin rod (see pic 1).

The spinning motion is hard to catch in a still photo, but the second picture shows the prop support stick spins, without the guard, when the hidden switch on the body is flipped, and the prop rod activates when engaged (see pic 2). When the prop is attached, the assembly will rotate to permit replication of the vessel’s actual function (see pic 3). Again, note the prop waiting to be attached.

Tyler takes care to hide the electronics and switches, when he can. Notice the small, black switch, disguised into the body (see pic 4). This small back switch is placed along the side of the body and will be blended in when his paint is finished there.

Tyler “T-half” (exhibit even further continued detail and facts to immerse)

Tyler’s attention to detail is sometimes hard to see once his builds are complete. He encloses his work in the appropriate paint schemes and details, and that the models have tight, hard to see environments, making that extra hose, tubing, frame shape, and other efforts lost to only the builder who enclosed them in the hulls. A few pictures provided here will relate some visual details, before the last paint job is completed on this build.

The underside of the engine compartment shows the framework, hoses, and even the electrical prop motor wire that will later be hidden (see pic 1). Further details of his build may be traced back under the cockpit, where the wire for the motor is still visible as it trails along toward the activation switch (see pic 2). You can visually trace this wire to the switch in the body (the prop-motor switch was explored last chapter). The carefully hinged seat adjustment (also depicted in an early chapter of this exhibit) is clear in this image as well; the image covering details from the last several chapter of this Thread. Notice the tanks, seen from the underside, at the front of the cockpit.

The visual inspection of the underside permits you to see a wider view, from under the cockpit to the tail section (see pic 3). These images let you see his process, both in detailing, such as framing and riveting along the hull, and the unfinished efforts toward the landing gear.

A better image delineates the unfinished landing gear efforts (see pic 4). The whole underside explores the care and effort of the project, and this image suggests where he is going with his eventual vision.

Tyler “T-half” (exhibit even further continued detail and facts to immerse & explore)

Tyler’s efforts at the landing gear are of note. His attention to scratch building perfection may be exemplified in the previous chapter’s description of his efforts at the landing gear. Building functions hinges and moving parts, from scratch, is daunting.

From the top of the mostly finished wing, the wheel well effort is clearly impressive (see pic 1). That scratch built tire and wheel hub looks to be museum quality. Yet as impressive as the assembly looks, the model provides even more surprises.

The unfinished bottom image shows that still the very nested wheel, in the same enclosed position as in the previous image, as still retracted but from a different angle (see pic 2). The artist used his mechanical acumen to build a framing and hinge system that permits that same strut to lower into a landing position (see pic 3). Please take a moment to notice the details of the very tire-tread in the scratch-made tire.

The next image illustrates the extended landing strut more clearly (see pic 4). These images convey the work-in-process and how hint at how the eventual build will take shape.

It is necessary to note that the other wing does not have the wheel or strut functioning yet. The next image shows the building of the parts of the tire and landing gear, both in detail of the wheel and accompanying structures. (see pic 5). Though still incomplete, the parts suggest the effort and talent of the other components that I have shared in this Thread.

Tyler “T-half” (exhibit even further continued detail and facts to immerse & explore)

Tyler’s efforts toward the attention to the detail described are illustrated in the next image; a picture of the tail section (see pic 1). Recall the front landing gear efforts from the previous chapters, and notice the parallels to the accuracy; shown in the tail section’s rear wheel. The guide wires for the rudder and the framing are also clearly illustrated in this image. The framing has the appropriate apertures in the structure, the wires guide the rudder movement, and the rear wheel pivots upon its own spindle. Even the tire tread exhibits an appropriate pattern.

Other less functional, but accurate and educational, details are appreciated. Tyler even provided a battery access in the side of the craft’s hull. The next image shows the access door, folded down, the chain hinges, and the battery nestled safely inside (see pic 2). The inclusion of this battery compartment is both brilliantly executed and historically informative.

The internal wing structure shows not only Tyler's skill and accuracy in the framing, it also shows the machine lines built into the wing (see pic 3). You may note the wires leading to the machine guns to animate them, when the build is completed.

Tyler “T-half” (exhibit even further continued detail and facts to further immerse &

Tyler’s builds include exquisite detail and carefully crafted functions. The rigging that I mentioned before in the last chapter, located in the tail section, connects to carefully added tail-control toggles, mounted on the body (see pic 1). By toggling the levers the flaps may be moved on the kit (see pic 2) on either side of the tail section. Each lever-toggle flips different tail portions. The manipulation of these levers permits the actual flap and rudder movements (see pic 3).

Tyler “T-half” (exhibit even much further continued detail and facts to furtherest...

Tyler’s carefully crafted functions extend to the main wings. The detailed machine guns, landing gear, and framing pieces are further enhanced by flap movements in the wing (see pic 1). He is designing, on the build, the ability to raise and lower the flaps (see pic 2). The current condition lets them fall loose, but he will eventually have them controllable, as he had done on the tail (see pic 3).
