HMV Fischdampfer Wuppertal 1:250
Hello!
Some days have passed since I've completed the Mellum, so it's time to begin a new model. I still do not have completed the move, so I will not begin large projects for a while; instead, I have chosen to focus on some smaller ships. Today's one is the HMV Fischdampfer Wuppertal, a 1955 German trawler. The kit consists of 4 A4 sheets (plus an additional sheet with some reprinted parts). The lasercut set, which I found to be very useful during the building of the Mellum, is composed of 10 sheets.

In these pictures you see the first stages of the construction, i.e. the frame and the main deck.
Cheers! Tommaso

Excellent beginning, Tommaso. I will be watching closely, not only because I like ship models and enjoy seeing your work, but also because I hope to try to build an HMV model during the coming year and will be interested in learning about how their models go together.
Are the laser-cut parts paper or brass? Note that the theme for the International Paper Models Convention next year is merchant ships and civilian watercraft: http://www.papermodelers.com/forum/m...ginia-usa.html Don |

@ Don,
laser-cut parts are made of paper. Thickness ranges between 100 and 350 g/sqm, depending on the type of part (that's why sometime there is more that one sheet of the same color). IMPC seems very interesting, but a bit too far from home. Anyway, who knows...

Hi all!
In the first 4 pictures there are the construction of the wooden walls on the deck and of the funnel. The other pictures show the construction of the trawl winch, which is a remarkable object made of some ~50 parts, with several lasercut parts (those in the corner of the sheet in the picture). The last picture finally shows the winch installed in place. Tommaso

Lordy the mind boggles at that winch! Magnificent!
Just imagine trying to do that without the laser parts! D |
