Thanks Don. No, the "die at five" was just a coincidence. However, I have watched some programming about Dave Bruebeck, and I can only wish us all as long and successful a life as he. Thanks Marco, David and Glen! I am glad the images have gotten a good response. I have doubled my effort with the camera to get some good angles and focus. Hopefully more to come. Mike |

Mike, it's been a while and too much time in between my stopping by and taking a look at your build of this magnificent model, but I am glad I did...your work on the cranes and then the small navigation bridge platform is incredible...so finely detailed, crisp, clean and true micro work which is truly inspirational! I love that you include so many photos of your work, they are really a treat to see.
Looking forward to seeing your further work on this masterpiece! Cheers! Jim |

That navigation platform just blows me away! I had been watching this build with considerable interest, but until I saw that, I didn't really understand the degree of difficulty.
Your skills are truly impressive! I hope one day to come close to them!

Seeing the quality in your work has me nervious to start the HMS Victoria, I think from the same designer. Your skills are wonderful to look at. Too many techniques that I don't know. Enjoy seeing your work.

Thank you friends (Jim, NimitzFan, Greg, Chris and Doris!) for your interest in USS Iowa. Once again you are too kind to me.
Jim: I see Copiague, Long Island noted on your posts. I hope hurricane Sandy did not leave you with any damage or losses. Greg: Yes, that must be the HMS Victoria by Golden Bear that you have. Lovely ship. Developing the card/paper techniques is a big part of the fun. I hope you will share with us if you decide to build it. Regards, Mike |

25 Guns, Funnel Wires & Mast Rigging
Happy New Year Friends,
100mm (4 inch) Guns: The first few images show the last two 100mm guns being assembled and installed on the aft superstructure platform, below the searchlights. I included an historical image. Despite the damage to the picture, particularly on the right side, one can clearly discern out the fine details of the gun. Image 227 shows the last six 47mm guns ready for installation. Funnel Guy Wires: I provided several images to show the funnel guy wires installed. They are made of paper and paint. Mast: The two horizontal mast spars are made of wood. That gave me a strong frame for installing the mast rigging. As with the funnel wires, the mast rigging is made of paper and paint. Here again I provided an historical image showing Iowa’s web of rigging. I managed to get a nice overview image of the entire project, so it is included at the end. Regards, Mike |
