Thanks for all your friendly comments.
As it is a grey sunday afternoon, and I'm in the blues in-between projects, I just played a bit with Paint Shop Pro and came up with a little tabletop pic of the ship ploughing the high seas being watched from a (chromolux paper) Super Constellation in the skies. A new project must be started, but I am still thinking. Maybe a B-747 alongside a DeHavilland DH-16, which made the first KLM flight in 1920. In the same scale, of course. That may make a nice diorama. Cheers. Robert PS the sea and sky are real, the rest is paper and PSP effects |

Thanks Michael and all others, your interest is highly appreciated!
I have done some research on the internet and in the library and decided to make a diorama of the KLM Boeing 747, KLM's largest airliner, and the DeHavilland DH-16, the 4 pax airliner which flew the first KLM flight. If you're interested in aircraft build threads, you may want to follow progress in the aircraft section of Papermodelers. Hope to see you there! Robert |

Once again, wonderful build thread, Robert...thanks for all the work in sharing your project with us!
I saw recently saw a commercial involving Qantas that sounds a lot like your diorama, although in their case they had an Avro under a modern jet the type of which I didn't catch, but the concept was similar, past and the present nicely joined in the same scene...can't wait to see your build on this! Cheers! Jim |

Congratulations, this is a real beautiful model, strange that I just see it after 10 years. In some pictures I see drawings of the ship (Deck drawings), where did you get these ?? And another question, is this the enlarged Scaldis model ??

I got these drawings from a book with the ship description, including deck plans. Actually, there are several books. You may find one antiquarilly, if that is a word. Try E-bay.
This thread got tangled up about 10 years ago, and a second thread came into being, which continued where this one ended. I see, that in this section, the other building thread is also activated again. If you're interested in building reports on pax ships, just click my avatar, and then statistics. You'll find a list of my threads, among which several ships. |
