I don't see them as mistakes, but as learning opportunities, or as someone in power says, "A Teachable Moment"

1) Using a busted-up X-acto knife to cut

2) Using the BLADE of an X-acto knife to score

3) Applying glue directly from the bottle to the model

4) Trying to glue 3 tabs simultaneously

5) Not having tweezers of some sort present

6) Not reading through the instructions at least once before assembly

7) Building a papercraft made in Pepakura, without any panel edits

8) Cutting a fold line

9) Not trusting the uses of Cyanoarcrylate (Super Glue) in smaller models

10) Making WAY too many of those tiny DS Lites

Making the Star trek Shuttlecraft, I folded all the legs to hold the nacelles and glued them together to only find out that somehow the way I glued was completely wrong and from a position of dyslexic, completely correct.

1. using Avery glue pens (they suck Don't use 'em)
2. printing out INSTRUCTIONS for Jan Rukr's M41A pulse rifle on card stock (they later became reinforcement stock)
3. individually forming greebles that are more/less the same thing over & over again
rather than gang-forming them one step at a time
4. Forgetting to test-fit
5. never bothering to reinforce large models
6. placing a model to dry within centimeters of a glass of ice water (somehow the condensation started to form on the part OOPS!)

10. Not scoring the fold lines.

9. Using too much glue.

8. Not spreading the glue out to avoid seepage.

7. Exclusively using scissors.

6. Using typing paper for large models.

5. Using 60lb paper for large models.

4. Printing at 'Normal' instead of 'Fast Draft' with dark models.

3. Not holding the glue tabs together until the glue dried.

2. Not using the edge-gluing technique to produce a seamless finish.

1. Trying to build normal models without glue, like tab'n'slot kits.

I thought I was the only one who was in that trap. And a 18 inch stack, how about a 36 inch stack, is that overboard. I tend to get wrapped up into my hobbies.

I will trump all your mistakes with this mistake...
using duco cement to glue some pieces together, applies to much, so I used a tissue to wipe it off, but then a couples minutes later, I have the sniffles, I use the same tissue, deeply inhale and sneeze, a huge amount of glue fumes went directly to my noggin. I wasn't trying to get "high"

When receiving disks from Fiddler Green, deciding to print out ALL the disk contents. Now I have a two foot tall stack of FG models to build . . . some day.
