Light Scout Bomber Lublin R-VIII

This model was built from the magazine “Maly Modelarz” # 3 for 1975, that is, 46 years ago. It’s scary to say … I didn’t really like the model right away. The color of the patterns in the magazine frankly “walked”, which is noticeable in the photo. The aircraft was clearly outdated in its design, since the same Messerschmitt Bf-109 was being designed at about the same time.

In short, I have big doubts on this score, supported by the lack of information on the Internet and the knowledge that the magazine’s employees could have made a mistake (see the article about the sea hunter “Vilchur”). Depth charges – yes, he did, but hardly a torpedo.
In general, this is all that remains of this model for today.

How To Build A Model In Blender. An Example Of An Airplane. Part 4

Hello to all.

Let’s continue building the fuselage of our aircraft. Now we need to make the cockpit. At the beginning, we will hide the made part of the fuselage so that it does not interfere with us....

In this part, I'm modeling the nose part of the plane - cockpit.
This story is very big, so see more on my site. How to build a model in Blender. An example of an airplane. Part 4 – PSG-Modeler

French Longboat Of The 18th Century 09

Hello to all.
I continue to tell about my French longboat development.
The next operation is to unfold the “planks” of the skin on a plane.
By now, I have made many details. In order not to get confused by them, it is time to arrange the made parts in order on A4 sheets.
The process is facilitated by the fact that for the opposite side of the longboat, the parts are made by mirror copying. That is, in fact, it is necessary to make a set of parts for only one side. For the second board, the parts are obtained automatically....

News From MaxArt

Hello to all.

Maxim began test assembly of his Yak-130 model. There have been no messages from Maxim for a long time, and now there is a lot of news at once.

Judging by the photo, work on the model is in full swing. The frame of the model, cockpits, engines are already ready.

Fuselage skin patterns on paper. The parts patterns are already textured.

Apparently, the model may be ready for the new year, as Maxim has already reported.

Let’s be patient and wait for the finished model.

Hydrofoil Mukha Class Corvette Model, Part 6

I am continuing to review the construction of the Mukha-class hydrofoil. The construction of the ship’s superstructure continues.
Superstructure of the second tier.

Now it’s the turn of making doors. There are quite a lot of doors and Filindr, as a true master of his craft, develops the technological process of making doors. As a result, all the doors are the same and very realistic, since Filindr came up with the process of stamping the doors.

Let’s take a closer look at the door production technology. First Filindr made a stamp. The main details – the base and the stamp itself, he impregnated with superglue. The parts have acquired the strength of plastic.

Then the flanges are glued to center the workpiece. They must be cut in height to the thickness of the workpiece so that you can press from above with the plane of an ordinary metal ruler:
Then the door creases frames are cut with holes in the middle.

How To Build A Model In Blender. An Example Of An Airplane. Part 5

Hello everybody.

Let’s continue modeling the plane nose. Last time I made the cockpit glazing. Now we need to make the nose of the fuselage.

Let’s see what we have.
The picture “Right View” shows that we have only the contour of the nose and section A along the nose of the fuselage. In this case, we see that the side of the fuselage is flat and vertical. The photographs additionally show that the plane nose has an elliptical cross-section, smoothly turning into a flat side.

Here I will make a small digression back to my story. When I made the main part of the fuselage, I used only two sections, B and C. I did this to simplify my story so as not to overload it with information.

Now it’s time to notice that the entire fuselage had to be coordinated with the sections C, D, E, F and G available in our picture. But, I think, after the completed construction of the fuselage, you will be able to coordinate the shape of the fuselage with the existing sections yourself. Let this be your task. I will post the solution a little later and talk about the modeling techniques that I used in doing this work to make the geometry of the model as accurate as possible.

So, section A. Copy section A from the original picture and place it on our drawing, where the plane is presented in three views. We agree on the cross-section for the size of the fuselage in this place. This procedure must be done for each fuselage slice. Here is an example of substitution on the drawing of section E from the original picture....

Nieuport 17

Hello everybody.

This is a well-known WWI aircraft that was widespread in the armies of the belligerent countries. In addition to France, Nieuport 17 was in service with Russia, Great Britain, Belgium and Italy.

The aircraft was built according to a one-and-a-half-plane scheme, which was unusual for that time, with the lower wing of a reduced area.

Many famous pilots fought on Nieuport 17: Canadian William Avery “Billy” Bishop, French Charles Nungesser, British Albert Ball.

You can easily find details about the history of creation and war service of this aircraft on the Internet.

Model
I made this model 47 years ago. This was my second Maly magazine. The first one was the English Lightning, which was already hanging about the ceiling in my room.
I was a teenager and sat behind an iron curtain. There was practically no information. Only about the victories of socialism over the decaying West, about which the TV mumbled day and night. The magazine was delivering to the USSR from Poland. Under socialist organization and planning, Maly arrived almost a month late.
Usually the pause was too long, and it was intolerable to count the days and guess when the next issue would come. And suddenly, unexpectedly, he came. And what a magazine! It had three WWI aircraft at once. It was a clumsy German Fokker E III, French Moran-Saulnier MS-3L and Nieuport 17. My delight knew no bounds. School was abandoned, although I had to attend classes.

I sat over the magazine for several days until I assembled all three planes. It was a real passion that swept over my head. I came running from school, had a quick lunch and turned on the radio. At three o’clock in the afternoon, the Voice of America radio station began its programs in Russian. It was one of the few sources of information that I trusted. And so my afternoon passed, stretching out until midnight. The radio went silent, and I went to bed tired and sleepy, thinking about the construction of my planes tomorrow.

My God, how did we live?!

A 47 year old model! Remarkable Dane.
Not many last that long.
I also enjoyed your story about being a young enthusiastic teenage paper modeler behind the iron curtain.

According to my observations, many people do not even want to believe that this could be. And I understand them now ...
