Expert work downunder. That deck plating has a nice neat look to it.

Deckhouses started

slow progress this week. Started the first deck of the superstructure. Laser cut formers are shown in the first photo. These make for great reinnforcement of the bulkheads. Those are laminated to 100 lb. card for good rigidity. The last shot shows the beggining of water tight doors, draped hoses and other bulkhead details. I'm going to clean all these details up before attaching the next deck overhead.

One final shot to show a little progress on Indy. More mid-section decks going on. Funnel, AA directors and search lights.

Fine craftsmanship, eib. I enjoy seeing these early and late treaty cruisers take shape in two different sizes and mediums. It is interesting and structive to compare the differences and similarities in construction techniques.

You are really doing well with your build. I have not done anything for a while, A death in the family and a computer crash have occupied my time. Hope to get back to it in a week or so.

This is really speeding along. Won't take nearly as much time as Arizona.
Nice work.

Thanks everyone. I learned a good lesson on this first level. 100 lb stock is too thick to do the superstructure. I'm going to 80 the rest of the way. I'm going to have to fall back and conceal some joints on this level.

Working on the next deck up right now. Lots of tedious cuts, so the going is slow. Pictures very soon.

@Padre... Sorry to hear about your loss. I hope you can get back in the saddle soon. I noticed Phoenix had come to a standstill lately.

@Michael... It feels like light speed compared to Arizona. That's good for my sanity.

Thanks!

Second Deck

Thanks for checking in Rick!

Second deck attached. This was a tedious cut out and lamination project. The upper side has the familiar deck blue print and the underside is the typical navy blue scheme. Fit up was great, just very time consuming to cut, laminate and mount.

I'm very satisified with the finished product. Bone head me used 100 pound and laminated the upper and lower parts for a nice thick finished deck. Then as I completed I realized a good laser cut deck form was included in the kit. DOH! :o
