Eib,

Nice build so far.

I noticed that the foward hull side is a different shade of blue. Are there other similar problems with the kit?

Thanks paper fan...

Hey, this kit is a great design. Fit up is excellent. I've managed to bone-head a couple things thus far, but I've covered my tracks fairly well. In general the printing is pretty good. Good catch on the hull sides. There are three pieces that make up each side and there is a bit of a tonal difference between a couple of them. The camera flash exaggerates it quite a bit so it's very noticable in the pictures. However, to the naked eye it's a much better blend of blue between pieces.

A very streamlined hull. My Boyarin (same company) came out with a gap between the upper hull plates and the below-waterline plates. Hmm.. I think its because I used 1mm to laminate the decks instead of .5 mm. Still, nothing a waterline rubrail or added boot top can't fix. Otherwise the fit, especially around the bow and stern was superlative. Still, I wish it looked as good as yours.

Thanks Mark. I appreciate your complement!

Superlative is right. This designer has a good grasp of fitup. This has been one of the easiest ships to skin.

I know what you mean about battling thickness issues. I'm having some of that trouble myself. I got a little too "rowdy" with the 100lb. stuff on the lower bulkheads and now I'm going to have to go back to and do some "joint treatment" to conceal the problems. I'm going to 80lb. lamination from here up to hopefully correct the problem.

You're on target with the added boot top. There are always good, attractive ways to conceal or cover tracks. I do it all the time.

Coming along well my friend. I too have encountered the thickness issue and now try to step down to help mismatches because of too thick material. Look forward to more as always.:DRick

Moving Up

Thanks Rick and Glen.

More decks and superstructure attached. Splinter shields for the forward 40mm tubs added.

Added water tight doors, vents, boxes and other details along the way.

Moving up to navigation and flag bridges after this. Going to continue to grow this part of the ship upward before I move on to something else...

Funnels? Main Gun Batteries? Smaller details?

You're moving along fast! looks great. So clean, but, well, look at the Indy.
Truly a bog change to go small again.

That's a good looking ship! Your efforts bring out the best in her. Nice!
